Here we are in the new year. We had the opportunity to attend a farming conference here this past month. It was well attended by both expats and local farmers. I believe that this farming method will make a big difference in the lives of the people who implement it on their farms. We were introduced to this method after we arrived in Uganda and had the opportunity to put it to practice at one of the schools in the village. Some of the farmers have seen a 10 fold increase in their crop production since implementing it. This means that the people can go from sustenance farming to actually making a profit. That is huge for these people. That means they can not only feed their families, but also send them to school and provide clothing and medical for them.
We are so excited to see this take root here.
We have 3 girls here who are helping out in one of the village schools. They have been here since November and will stay until May. They are seeing first hand what it is like to live here as they have been living in the village this entire time. They are teaching English as well as other subjects to Baby Class through P5. We are blessed to have them here and know that they are truly making a difference in these childrens lives.

Hi! Although I'm sure you don't remember me, I met you last fall at Wentz Clinic when you brought a little boy with his new adoptive parents in for treatment, and aftetwards gave me a ride to the home I was staying at in Bunga. I have been watching your blog for updates.
I am wondering if I can get in touch with the three girls who have been working at the village school. I started a small (7 children) orphanage in Buzika before I came home, and now Elysisa, a 20-something girl from Oregon, is planning to spend a year there, mostly helping the children with their schooling. I would love to find out from the girls at the village school anything that would be helpful to Elysia when she comes to help, and perhaps put them in touch with Elysia.
I also am interested in what you learned that will increase farming production so much. I am hoping to lease some property so that the women of the village can raise crops to feed their families. I will be coming to Uganda, but I am not sure when. It depends on when Elysia will be ready, hopefully by summer.
I pray that God is blessing you and your work there with your village school, and the adoptions you are helping to facilitate.
